Stocks for Teachers
This is a list of flies that are available for High School Teachers to use in their classrooms. If you are interested in any of these stocks, please contact us:

Please try to notify us at least 2 weeks prior to needing the flies
The flies will come as a stock to propagate. We do not send out virgin flies.


Stocks Available

B, bar: X-linked dominant eye marker. Gives the eye a kidney-like shape.

Canton S: Wild type.

dp, dumpy: second chromosome recessive, wide wing with notch at the end.

e, ebony: third chromosome recessive, black body color.

ru h th st cu sr e ca: third chromosome, multiply marked, recessive mutations.
ru: roughoid, recessive, eyes are rough or fuzzy in appearance.
h: hairy, recessive, many small extra hairs on body.
th: thread, recessive, antennae lack branch-like hairs.
st: scarlet, recessive, neon-bright eye color.
cu: curled, recessive, wings curl upward.
st: stripe, recessive, black stripe on thorax.
e: ebony, recessive, light black body color.
ca: claret, recessive, dark reddish brown eye color.
combination of scarlet and claret gives tangerine eye color.

ry, rosy: third chromosome recessive; darker red eye color.

st, scarlet: third chromosome recessive; neon-bright eye color.

se, sepia: third chromosome recessive, dark reddish brown eye color.

sn, singed: X-linked recessive, crinkled bristles.

spa, sparkle: third chromosome recessive eye marker. Gives the eye a rough, sparkle appearance.

w, white, X-linked recessive, white eye color.

vg, vestigial: second chromosome recessive, tiny crumpled wings.

y, yellow: X-linked recessive, yellow body color.
